You'll turn approved designs into safe, buildable electrical work on site supervising installation on 11kV to 132kV data centre, renewable and network projects, and getting each one ready for commissioning and energisation.

You'll join the Engineering team within our Power Operations department, reporting to the Lead Electrical Project Engineer. You'll work day-to-day with design, commissioning and construction colleagues, subcontractors, clients and DNO/TSO staff.

This role makes sure the electrical works on each project are installed safely, to design and on programme, and handed over ready for testing. You'll also resolve technical issues on site and feed into bids, while building towards leading projects.

What you'll do

• Supervise day-to-day electrical site activities, direct labour and subcontractors on new connection and infrastructure projects, including works in operational open busbar substations

• Review designs, SLDs and cable schedules for buildability, close out TQs/RFIs, and prepare method statements, RAMS and ITPs

• Plan substation access, outages and safety documentation with the DNO or TSO under the Distribution Safety Rules

• Carry out quality inspections and hold-point checks on cabling, terminations, earthing and equipment, then complete pre-commissioning checks and support FAT/SAT through to energisation

• Manage material take-offs and orders, look-ahead programmes, weekly progress reports and as-built records, raising risks and variations early with the Project Manager

Good to know: site-based, with frequent travel between UK sites and occasional office days.

Essential

• Experience delivering UK HV substation and/or cable projects from 11kV to 132kV in live substations, ideally for a DNO, TSO, ICP or principal contractor

• Knowledge of HV plant, switchgear, cable systems, earthing and protection and control, and confidence reading SLDs, schematics and cable schedules

• A strong understanding of the Distribution Safety Rules, CDM, G81 and NERS, and experience writing or reviewing method statements, RAMS and ITPs

• HNC/ONC in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

• DNO/TSO substation entry competency (11–132kV) or able to obtain it, CSCS/EUSR card, first aid at work and a full UK driving licence

Nice to have

• Authorised Person experience at 11kV or 33kV on DNO, TSO or private networks

• UK Power Networks substation entry and receipt of safety documents competency

• SSSTS or SMSTS

• Exposure to transmission-connected projects at 275kV or 400kV

• Working towards EngTech or IEng registration
