ABOUT THE TEAM

You'll join our Digital Infrastructure team, working across a wide range of civil engineering and utility contracts spanning gas, power, telecoms and multi-utility frameworks — long-term frameworks with major clients that give the team real stability and a strong pipeline of work.

You'll report to a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager and work closely with operational and delivery teams on site, as well as the wider commercial function. Day to day, you'll be moving between subcontractor negotiations, valuations, cost reporting and site-based commercial admin — a genuinely varied role with a real voice in commercial decisions, not just number-reporting.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role exists to support the commercial success of our civil engineering and utility contracts — covering pre- and post-contract work from pricing and tendering through to valuations and final accounts, while helping manage risk and drive value across the projects you support.

Day to day, you will:

• Build and maintain subcontractor relationships — negotiating rates, assessing applications, and agreeing variations

• Support tendering and bid submissions, including pricing, T&Cs and commercial assessments

• Manage monthly valuations, applications for payment, and variations control

• Produce accurate cost reports and CVRs across your contracts

• Maintain strong commercial systems and recordkeeping on site

EXPERIENCE

Essential

• Solid experience in civil engineering or utilities, gained through pre- and post-contract commercial work

• Experience managing subcontractor relationships, applications and variations

• Experience producing cost reports, CVRs and valuations on live contracts

Desirable

• Experience working within long-term frameworks or multi-utility contracts

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

• Degree, HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar — or equivalent experience

• Confident working with NEC, JCT and bespoke contracts

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial tools such as Envision

• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK

Desirable

• Working towards or holding chartership (e.g. MRICS, MCICES)

• Additional commercial or contract training (e.g. NEC accreditation)
