THE TEAM
Join the Power Operations team at JSM Group Services Ltd., a leading provider of integrated utility infrastructure solutions. Our combination of end-to-end technical expertise, decades of industry experience, and unlimited fresh thinking makes us a trusted partner in delivering next-generation connectivity in energy and communications across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
Our Power team delivers high-value electrical infrastructure projects for some of the most demanding clients in the sector – from hyperscale data centre operators to major industrial and grid clients. We are building a team of exceptional project management professionals who can drive complex programmes from award through to energisation, and we want people who take real ownership of their projects
SCOPE OF ROLE
As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll oversee all commercial activities across major projects, from budget management to cost analysis and financial forecasting.
This role requires strategic leadership and hands-on expertise in managing large-scale utilities or civil projects, where you'll ensure they meet financial targets, quality standards and deadlines while optimising client satisfaction and value delivery
Day to day, you will own;
Commercial Leadership: As the primary commercial lead, overseeing cost management, cash flow, and financial forecasting to support project success.
Budget & Cost Management: Establish and manage accurate financial budgets, ensuring all project costs remain within set parameters and are aligned with business objectives.
Valuation & Forecasting: Drive cash flow and valuation planning processes, delivering detailed forecasts of project costs to completion.
Stakeholder Management: Work closely with senior stakeholders, project teams, and external partners to communicate financial updates and ensure alignment on project objectives.
Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and manage potential risks within the commercial remit, implementing effective controls to safeguard project profitability.
ABOUT YOU
You'll do well here if you recognise yourself in this:
You're hungry to grow and you take personal responsibility for your work and your development.
You're comfortable with complexity and you'd rather solve a hard technical problem than avoid it.
You work well across disciplines — you know good delivery depends on civil, power and digital teams pulling in the same direction.
You use sound judgment under pressure and you're straight with people about risk and programme.
EXPERIENCE
Essential
Proven experience in a similar role with substantial exposure to managing high-budget (£50 million+) projects within the Power, Utilities or civils sectors.
Proficient in NEC3/NEC4 contracts and experience in major infrastructure or civil project environments.
Ability to produce detailed financial forecasts and manage cash flows effectively.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
Full UK driving licence / right to work in the UK
Desirable
Chartered or incorporated status, or working towards it
Relevant professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, ICES, CIOB) is highly desirable.
If you meet most but not all of the above, we'd still like to hear from you. We'll look at what you've delivered and what you're capable of, not just the list.
ENGINEERED TO BELONG
At JSM Group, we're not just shaping the future of utilities, we're raising the bar for what a great place to work looks like.
Our values aren't words on a wall. They drive every decision we make and every project we take on, pushing us to go further, do better, and leave a real mark on the industry.
We want people who are hungry to grow, ready to take on complex challenges, and excited to work alongside clients and partners who are changing the landscape of the utility sector across the UK, Europe and beyond.
In return, we give you the room to develop fast, the work to stretch you, and the platform to build a career that actually means something — and here's what that looks like in practice:
