As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Streetworks Permit Officer to join our team at our head office in Potters Bar.
The role
As our Streetworks Permit Officer, you’ll keep the business unit compliant with the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA) and associated Permit Scheme regulations – including Lane Rental, Temporary Traffic Orders while promoting a positive, professional image for the company.
You’ll be part of a diverse team & take ownership of Streetworks permitting and the co-ordination of works, from unplanned faults, planned connections, Section 50s and Section 81s, whilst keeping accurate records of associated costs across every stage of the permit process.
What you’ll be doing
· Open, Close & co-ordinate Streetworks permits in line with DfT Street Manager
· Liaise with local authorities, client representatives & JSM ops to co-ordinate works
· Arrange and co-ordinate parking suspensions, bus stop suspensions, road closures, ban turns, lane rental and similar
· Report and administer defects plus Section 81 notices
· Co-ordinate, administer and issue Section 50 licences
· Analyse, mitigate and respond to Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), Section 74 charges & defects.
· Maintain an accurate programme of works
· Compile reports and logs for proposed in-progress & closed works where required
· Submit permit registrations as required
· Support wider project delivery as & when required.
What you’ll bring
· Broad experience in utility & or highway Streetworks permitting and co-ordination
· Strong relationship-building with clients, local authorities, third parties and operational staff – both internal and external
· Excellent organisational and time-management skills
· The ability to work proactively and accurately to strict deadlines and under pressure
· Confidence and assertiveness when liaising with project managers, local authorities, clients and other stakeholders
· A genuine team player who supports colleagues whenever needed
Desirable qualifications & Experience
· Experience with Symology Aurora
· Experience with OneNetwork/Causeway
· Traffic Management Knowledge – Chapter 8/Red Book
· PC literate, with a sound knowledge of MS Office and Street Works permitting
· Comprehensive knowledge of NRSWA, TMA and associated Permit Schemes
· Experience/good knowledge & use of DfT Street Manager
