Technical Solutions Lead
Join JSM Group to design and install power, digital, and specialist networks that keep critical industries running — grow your skills, impact, and career with us.
THE COMPANY
Established in 1998, JSM Group designs and installs the power networks, digital infrastructure and specialist systems that critical industries run on — from high-power grid connections and data centres to renewable energy. Our turnkey teams deliver complex infrastructure at speed, on time, and with reduced legislative, technical and commercial risk.
SCOPE OF ROLE
This is a newly created role sitting within the Strategy & Growth team, working in close partnership with the Estimating function. The primary purpose is to build and own the company's approach to sourcing high-voltage (HV) products and qualifying in-country subcontractors across the UK, Ireland, and broader European project pipeline.
You will establish supplier relationships, develop market intelligence, and create the frameworks and processes that allow the business to price, plan, and deliver HV-led projects with greater confidence and competitive advantage. This is a foundation role with a clear growth trajectory, as the function matures, it is expected to expand into a team and ultimately integrate with Estimating into a unified Pre-Contract capability.
HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED
Secure competitive, reliable equipment supply by building strong relationships with tier-one and specialist HV manufacturers, backed by live market intelligence on pricing, capacity, and lead times
Give bids programme certainty by developing a qualified, ready-to-deploy subcontractor network across the UK, Ireland, and Europe
Win more work by arming Estimating with accurate pricing, risk assessments, and make-vs-buy input on HV-led bids
Set the business up to scale by establishing the processes, tools, and operating model for sourcing as a function
OTHER DUTIES
Manage Incoterms, commercial risk allocation, and logistics for cross-border equipment procurement
Support in-country value and local content obligations on relevant frameworks and client contracts
Feed into post-tender reviews, capturing lessons learned to sharpen future sourcing and pricing
Track emerging HV technologies, supply chain developments, and competitor positioning
Contribute to the wider Strategy & Growth agenda — framework positioning, partnerships, and geographic expansion
QUALIFICATIONS
Proven experience in HV/electrical procurement, sourcing, or estimating within a contracting, EPC, or utility environment
Direct knowledge of HV product categories - transformers, switchgear, cables, GIS, protection systems - and the supply chain dynamics that affect them
Track record of building and managing supplier relationships, including negotiation and commercial management
Familiarity with subcontractor prequalification, tender management, and supply chain governance
Understanding of how procurement and sourcing decisions impact project programme, cost, and risk
Experience operating across UK and broader European markets
Strong commercial acumen, able to read contracts, assess risk, and understand how sourcing decisions flow through to project outcomes

To be the most trusted utility infrastructure provider, delivering sustainable, efficient networks — and an employer of choice.
