Contracts Manager - Power
THE TEAM
At JSM Group, our Power Division plays a critical role in delivering complex Infrastructure projects. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Contract Manager to support our Infrastructure Projects internationally. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction contract management, with proven knowledge of U.K. construction law, procurement practices, and regulatory compliance.
SCOPE OF ROLE
The Senior Contracts Manager will provide commercial and contractual leadership across multi-utility infrastructure projects, including electricity, water, gas, telecoms, and district energy works. Reporting to the Associate Director of Power, the role is responsible for driving commercial strategy, protecting value, managing contractual risk, and ensuring strong contract governance from pre-contract through project close-out. This is a hybrid role requiring regular presence in our Potters Bar HQ to lead contract management teams, support project delivery, and drive continuous commercial improvement across a diverse utility portfolio.
HOW YOU`LL SUCCEED
Lead the full contract lifecycle across multi-utility projects, including tender support, negotiation, execution, administration, and final account close-out.
Provide strategic commercial input during framework bids, direct awards, and competitive procurements, ensuring risk is identified, priced, and mitigated.
Draft, review, and manage main contracts, subcontracts, supplier agreements, NDAs, and professional service agreements.
Identify and manage contractual risks and opportunities, including claims management, dispute resolution, and contract amendments.
Establish and maintain robust commercial governance, reporting, and contract controls across utility programmes.
Protect margin, cash flow, and entitlement through effective management of contract terms, change control, and payment mechanisms. Leadership & Continuous Improvement Lead, mentor, and develop contracts and commercial teams operating across multi-utility projects. Drive improvements in contract management systems, commercial processes, and performance reporting. Work collaboratively with operations, planning, procurement, finance, and SHEQ teams.
WHAT IT TAKES
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a senior contracts or commercial management role within multi-utilities, utilities infrastructure, or regulated environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
Strong commercial acumen with proven experience protecting margin and managing contractual risk across framework and project delivery models.
In-depth understanding of NEC contracts (ECC, PSC), with experience managing compensation events and early warnings.
Proven ability to lead negotiations and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
Proficient in AI softwares (like co-pilot)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Competent in incident investigation, reporting, and data analysis
