Project Planner
THE TEAM
You’ll be working closely with the Pre-Construction Civils Director, Planning Team, and Project Delivery Teams. As a key player in the Power Division, the planning function supports both tender and delivery phases to ensure project success, contributing to the continued growth and operational excellence of the business.
SCOPE OF ROLE
As a Planner, you will be responsible for developing and monitoring programme solutions across various projects. Your role will include creating tender submissions, delivery programmes, procurement schedules, resource and cost allocations, and supporting both on-site duties and reporting processes. This is a hands-on planning position with a direct impact on the successful delivery of high-profile infrastructure works within the Power Division.
HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED
To excel in this role, you will:
- Provide consistent, accurate, and reliable programme data to project stakeholders.
- Develop and communicate planning intent using tools such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.
- Communicate planned logic and assumptions to internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Create project-specific programmes for both tender and live project phases.
- Maintain accurate records of assumptions, constraints, schedules, and logistics plans.
- Review and analyse tender and delivery programmes to ensure realistic, achievable timelines.
- Understand contractual obligations, including variations, changes, and delay entitlements.
- Work with delivery teams to develop and monitor short-term, detailed programmes.
- Communicate the impact of schedule slippage and perform critical path analysis.
- Track, measure, and justify progress against programme targets with accuracy.
- Provide expert planning support across multiple functions within the business.
- Take on other planning-related responsibilities as required by management.
WHAT IT TAKES
We’re looking for someone with:
✔ Communication Skills: Clear and confident communicator with the ability to explain planning logic and programme impacts.
✔ Attention to Detail: Ability to track programme performance and provide evidence-based reporting.
✔ Collaborative Mindset: Comfortable working across pre-construction and project delivery teams.
✔ Fast learner: Able to pick up new software quickly.
✔ Organisational Ability: Able to manage and prioritise multiple planning activities across concurrent projects.
✔ Industry experience in Utilities/Power: Not essential but this will be desirable. Qualifications Required:
✔ Minimum 5 years experience within a project planning role.
✔ Software Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Project and ideally Primavera P6.
