About the Role
Are you an experienced Telecoms/Utilities Planner looking for an opportunity to contribute to innovative projects in the telecom and utilities sector? We’re seeking a proactive and skilled planner to join our dynamic team, providing planning and design expertise for telecom construction and street works projects. This role offers an excellent pathway for those aspiring to move into project management, giving you hands-on experience with the full project lifecycle, from feasibility to as-built completion.
What You’ll Do
As a Telecoms Planner, you’ll play a pivotal role in planning and designing telecom routes, customer connections, and network upgrades. Your responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities
- Route Planning: Lead the planning process from feasibility to implementation for new builds, maintenance, and diversionary works.
- Documentation Preparation: Compile registers of Special Engineering Difficulties (SEDs) and liaise with relevant authorities for permissions.
- Job Packs & Wayleaves: Prepare job packs from site surveys, including private wayleaves and paving schedules.
- Design & As-Builts: Produce Straight Line Diagrams, Public Infrastructure Access (PIA) documentation, and cable packs. Collect and collate as-built information for client handovers.
- Project Support: Develop method statements, risk assessments, and works programmes using tools like MS Project.
- Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and internal teams to ensure project success.
- Reporting: Provide regular progress updates, weekly/monthly reports, and fibre allocation schedules.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with structural and asset owners to ensure permissions and methodologies are approved.

Skills & Experience
- Telecoms Expertise: Experience in telecoms fibre and civil design is preferred. Familiarity with BT Openreach Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) is a bonus.
- Organisational Skills: Strong time management and attention to detail, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in MS Office and project management tools, with a working knowledge of GPS recording systems.
- Stakeholder Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with clients, authorities, and internal teams.
- Health & Safety Knowledge: SSSTS qualification and experience with risk assessments and method statements are desirable.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively alone or as part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude.

- Clean Driving Licence: Essential for site visits across the UK.
- Willingness to Travel: Flexibility to attend sites as needed.
